Hogganfield Loch, Saturday 27th January

Went to Hogganfield Loch with my daughter Heather so she could feed the birds, there was a Pink-footed Goose with the Greylags. The usual birds were at the car park, Whooper Swan, Mute Swan, Goldeneye, Goosander, Tufted Duck, Pochard, Mallard, Coot, Moorhen, Herring Gull, Lesser Black-backed Gull and Black-headed Gulls.
It's a great place for watching birds at close range no matter how experienced you are.

Grounded by the Flu !!!

Have ended up with the flu again, hopefully will be able to get out and about again soon.

Tufted Duck ???

I use the name Tufted Duck loosely with this bird, it has been on the Heritage Loch in James Hamilton Heritage Park, Stewartfield, East Kilbride for at least two weeks now and has some very unusual features, if anyone has any ideas feel free to post them. The bird is slightly smaller than the other Tufted Ducks and has strange copper coloured markings showing through the plumage, it also has green showing through on the tertials, the beak speaks for itself!!!
